Junior Sous Chef

Hourly | Full-Time | $23.00–$25.00/hr + Tips We’re seeking a motivated, hands‑on Junior Sous Chef to support culinary operations at Rustic Root. This role is ideal for an experienced culinary professional who thrives in a fast‑paced kitchen, leads by example, and is passionate about quality, consistency, and developing a strong team. What It Takes to Succeed Lead and support cooks and prep staff during daily service Ensure food quality, presentation, temperature, and recipe standards are consistently met Execute menu items efficiently during high‑volume service Maintain prep levels, production pars, and organized workstations Monitor food costs, inventory, product usage, and waste Train and support new cooks and dishwashers Maintain clean, sanitary, and food‑safe kitchen conditions Communicate effectively between chefs, cooks, and the management team Complete opening, closing, prep, and kitchen checklists Education & Experience 5+ years of restaurant, hotel, or professional kitchen experience Previous culinary leadership experience preferred Strong knowledge of food preparation, kitchen operations, and sanitation standards Ability to multitask, stay organized, and lead effectively under pressure San Diego County Food Handler Card required within 30 days of employment ServSafe certification preferred Why Join Our Team RMD Group is built on teamwork, growth, and operational excellence.
