Overview The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for planning and directing the delivery of primary health care and health education programs in association with Methodist Healthcare Primary Care Associates (MHPCA). The incumbent will provide care and health education for patients and their families, modeling appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision, and Values, and carrying the mission forward of caring for our community. What you will do Assesses, diagnoses, and treats patients in the assigned center according to approved protocol and acceptable standards. Performs necessary diagnostic and therapeutic procedures according to written, approved protocols developed with and under the supervision of the Medical Director/collaborating Physician. Participates in the design and revision of protocols. Collaborates with Medical Physician and ancillary personnel as appropriate to promote quality care for patients. Makes referrals as appropriate. Recognizes and reacts appropriately to environmental safety factors related to patient care. Understands, applies and supports practice policies, procedures, goals and standards. Develops strong partnership with patients, family members, fellow physicians/nurses and support staff. Focuses on high patient and family satisfaction and retention. Education and Formal Training Requirements Master’s Degree in Advanced Practice Nursing Master’s Degree in Nursing Nursing Doctorate in Advanced Practice Nursing Work Experience Requirements 3–5 years of general nursing or clinical practice. Licenses and Certifications Advanced Practice Nurse (Tennessee) – Tennessee Board of Nursing Advanced Practice Nurse (Mississippi) – Mississippi Board of Nursing Advanced Practice Nurse (Arkansas) – Arkansas State Board of Nursing BASIC LIFE SUPPORT – American Heart Association Registered Nurse (Arkansas) – Arkansas State Board of Nursing Registered Nurse (Mississippi) – Mississippi Board of Nursing Registered Nurse (Tennessee) – Tennessee Board of Nursing Nurse Practitioner certification (ANCC) – American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Nurse Practitioner certification (AANP) – American Association of Nurse Practitioners Nurse Practitioner certification (AACN) – American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN) Certification Corporation Nurse Practitioner certification (CPNP) – Pediatric Nursing Certification Board Nurse Practitioner certification (NCC) – National Certification Corporation Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Proficiency in applying advanced concepts, principles, and professional techniques in a specialized field of nursing. Current DEA number (if required by facility). Supervision There are no supervisory or lead responsibilities assigned to this position. Physical Demands Frequent invasive and non-invasive patient contact. Exposure to patient body fluids as well as exposure to hazardous or poisonous materials. Exposure to excessive heat or cold as required. Ability to react quickly to emergency situations. May require handling or administering of narcotics. Ability to read and write to communicate orally and in writing with other individuals. Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs. Ability to sit in one place, stand, walk, squat, kneel, reach, twist, crawl, and bend. Ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist motion, as well as using hands for gripping and squeezing.
