Full Time Shift Shift Day Work Schedule Summary TBD VP Area VP Area Academic Affairs Department Department 00116 - School of Biological Sciences Location Location Campus City City Salt Lake City, UT Type of Recruitment Type of Recruitment External Posting Pay Rate Range Pay Rate Range 14-16/hour Close Date Close Date 11/13/2026 Job Summary The laboratory technician will be responsible for conducting experiments and collecting data, assisting with experimental preparation by making solutions and preparing specimens, and supporting daily laboratory operations, including equipment setup, cleaning, and maintenance. The technician will receive extensive hands‑on training and mentorship from the Principal Investigator (PI). Responsibilities Perform laboratory tests, experiments, and analyses. Prepare and weigh samples for testing and analysis. Conduct tests, assays, and other protocols under the direction of a laboratory services manager, physician, nurse, or scientist. Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs). Ensure all laboratory equipment and work areas are clean, sterile, and in proper working order. May be responsible for calibration of instruments. Mid-level support role. Completes routine tasks under moderate supervision. Minimum Qualifications 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor’s degree = 4 years of directly related work experience). Laboratory Technician, I: Requires little to no related experience. Laboratory Technician, II: Requires at least 1 year of related experience. Laboratory Technician, III: Requires 3+ years of related experience. Preferences Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience in small animal surgery, electrophysiology, histology, or other biological laboratory techniques and coursework, as well as a strong interest in neuroscience research.
