Job Title: RN - MedSurg/Tele Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 2 years in MedSurg/Telemetry License: RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Ability to provide direct and indirect patient care Strong interpersonal communication skills Ability to work collaboratively Solid written and oral communication skills Ability to tolerate moderate to high stress levels Experience reading telemetry strips Proficiency with chest tubes, trach care, PIV starts, drain and tube management, and PCA pumps Description: This position involves providing care for patients in a Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit. The patient population may include individuals with general medicine diagnoses such as diabetes, gastrointestinal issues, respiratory conditions, renal problems, and wounds. Duties may involve monitoring and managing telemetry patients, including reading telemetry strips. Skills required include administering medications through PCA pumps and managing various IV medications. The potential for supporting advanced care includes working with hospitalist and intensivist teams as needed. Team collaboration and strong communication skills are emphasized, ensuring optimal patient-centered care. Staffing ratios are typically 5-6 patients per RN, with support from CNAs. The unit culture is centered on teamwork and reliability, promoting a positive environment for both staff and patients.
