Accounting Specialist (Temp-to-Hire) Location: Irvine, CA Employment Type: Temp-to-Hire (3 months) Work Schedule: Temporary Period: Approximately 30 hours per week Upon Direct Hire: Full-time (40 hours per week) with comprehensive company benefits Hybrid work (3 days office/week) Pay Rate: $27-28/hour Position Overview A well-established international food manufacturing company is seeking an Accounting Specialist to join its Finance & Accounting team. This position is responsible for reviewing sales orders and invoices, supporting accounts receivable activities, ensuring data accuracy, assisting with month-end closing, and providing general accounting support. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and enjoys working collaboratively with multiple departments. Key Responsibilities Review sales orders and sales invoices to ensure accuracy and completeness. Verify shipping documents, customer purchase orders, pricing information, and billing data. Work closely with Supply Chain, Sales, and Accounting teams to resolve discrepancies. Process and apply customer payments and cash receipts. Monitor accounts receivable activity and customer deductions. Assist with bank account maintenance and monthly bank reconciliations. Prepare AR-related reports and maintain customer master records. Support month-end and year-end closing activities. Assist with general ledger and other accounting functions. Support external audits and accounting projects as assigned. Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and operational efficiency. Maintain accurate financial records while ensuring confidentiality and compliance with company policies. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 3-5 years of accounting experience. CPA or CPA candidate is a plus. Strong Microsoft Excel skills. Experience using SAP or other ERP systems. Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Preferred Qualifications Experience in manufacturing, food manufacturing, consumer goods, or distribution industries. Experience with accounts receivable, billing, cash application, and month-end close. Continuous improvement mindset with the ability to streamline accounting processes.
