People and Operations Manager (New York)

Our Client

Our client is an ambitious, rapidly growing investment firm that recently reached a major growth milestone with the successful launch of its latest fund. Partnering directly with the Chief Operating Officer, the firm is seeking a People & Operations Manager to help build the processes, infrastructure, and employee experience needed to support its next phase of growth.

This is a newly created, highly visible role offering a unique blend of HR ownership and operational responsibility. The ideal candidate is a proactive, hands-on professional who enjoys improving processes, supporting employees, and partnering with leadership to drive the business forward.

The Role

The People & Operations Manager will work closely with the COO to oversee core people operations while helping manage a variety of business and operational initiatives across the firm. This individual will play a key role in shaping the employee experience, maintaining efficient day-to-day operations, and implementing scalable processes to support a growing team.

Responsibilities

• Manage the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, offboarding, employee records, and people-related processes
• Oversee benefits administration, open enrollment, leave tracking, and relationships with external brokers and HR vendors
• Support employee engagement initiatives and contribute to a positive, high-performing firm culture
• Coordinate recruitment processes, candidate scheduling, interview logistics, and onboarding activities
• Maintain HRIS systems, employee documentation, reporting, and compliance-related processes
• Manage vendor relationships, office operations, facilities coordination, and day-to-day business logistics
• Support accounts payable activities, invoice processing, expense tracking, and other operational workflows
• Assist with policy development, process improvement initiatives, and organizational best practices
• Partner closely with the COO on strategic projects, operational enhancements, and firmwide initiatives
• Help build and implement scalable processes that support the firm's continued growth

Qualifications

• 3-7+ years of experience in Human Resources, People Operations, HR Generalist, Business Operations, or similar roles
• Strong understanding of employee lifecycle management, benefits administration, and HR best practices
• Experience working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
• Exposure to office management, business operations, vendor management, project coordination, or related operational functions
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
• Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills
• A hands-on, solutions-oriented mindset with a willingness to roll up your sleeves when needed
• Experience with HRIS platforms and Microsoft Office Suite
• High degree of discretion and professionalism when handling confidential information
• Bachelor's degree required

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary : $120,000-$150,000 base salary plus bonus
• Comprehensive benefits package
• Five days onsite in New York City
