Role Description The Strategic Development Specialist is a contract role responsible for identifying growth opportunities, building strategic partnerships, and supporting business development initiatives across aerospace, defense, and federal markets. This hybrid position is based in the Detroit Metropolitan Area, with a mix of on-site collaboration and work-from-home flexibility. Day-to-day activities include conducting market and competitive analysis, developing go-to-market plans, and supporting pursuit efforts for federal, state, and commercial contracts. The specialist will prepare presentations and proposals, coordinate with technical and operations teams to align offerings with customer needs, and track pipeline activity and performance metrics. The role also involves engaging with clients and stakeholders, supporting pricing and financial models, and contributing to long-term strategic roadmaps for JMJ’s UAS, AI, and mission resilience services. Qualifications Strong analytical skills to perform market research, opportunity assessment, and data-driven decision-making. Excellent communication skills for client engagement, cross-functional collaboration, and creation of clear proposals and presentations. Proficiency in strategic planning to develop growth strategies, go-to-market plans, and partnership frameworks. Sales capabilities to support lead generation, pipeline management, and contract pursuit activities. Finance skills to assist with budgeting, pricing models, and basic financial analysis for strategic initiatives. Experience in aerospace, defense, or federal contracting environments is highly beneficial. Familiarity with SBA 8(a), DBE/MBE programs, or public-sector procurement processes is a plus. Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, engineering, public policy, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
