This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Managing Director, Sales based in the United States.

This senior leadership role is responsible for driving national revenue growth while building and scaling a high-performing distributed sales organization. You will lead a team of regional sales Directors, each managing their own territories, and ensure they are equipped with the strategy, coaching, and tools needed to consistently achieve performance goals. The role blends strategic oversight with hands-on leadership, requiring the ability to translate national revenue objectives into clear regional execution plans. You will play a central role in shaping go-to-market strategy, improving pipeline performance, and strengthening partner relationships across the country. This is a highly mission-driven environment where commercial execution is tightly aligned with impact outcomes in the education sector. The position also requires frequent collaboration with senior leadership to refine strategy and accelerate organizational growth.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead, coach, and develop a national team of sales Directors responsible for managing individual territories and closing strategic partnerships.
  • Own the national revenue quota and ensure consistent forecasting, pipeline management, and performance tracking across all regions.
  • Translate national sales strategy into territory-level execution plans, ensuring alignment and accountability across distributed teams.
  • Conduct regular pipeline reviews, coaching sessions, and performance evaluations to strengthen execution and remove barriers to success.
  • Recruit, onboard, and retain high-performing, mission-aligned sales talent while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with senior leadership to refine go-to-market strategy and support long-term revenue growth planning.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing, Finance, and Implementation teams to ensure alignment across the customer journey.
  • Monitor market trends, funding shifts, and policy changes to inform strategic adjustments and territory prioritization.
  • Represent the organization at key national and regional events to strengthen visibility and expand strategic relationships.
  • Ensure rigorous CRM discipline and pipeline hygiene to support accurate forecasting and data-driven decision-making.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of sales leadership experience, ideally in K–12 education, edtech, or nonprofit sectors.
  • Proven success leading distributed or multi-territory sales teams of individual contributors.
  • Strong track record of consistently meeting or exceeding revenue targets in complex sales environments.
  • Deep understanding of full-cycle sales processes, including prospecting, pipeline development, negotiation, and closing.
  • Experience coaching and developing high-performing sales professionals in a structured, performance-driven environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret pipeline data and translate insights into actionable strategy.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence both internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Experience working in or closely with K–12 education systems (teaching, administration, or district leadership strongly preferred).
  • Ability to balance strategic planning with hands-on coaching and execution support across multiple priorities.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills in fast-paced, evolving environments.
