Supervisory Medical Support AssistantThe Supervisory Medical Support Assistant for the Patient Scheduling Section, Radiology Service, supervises GS-7 Lead Medical Support Assistants and GS-6 Medical Support Assistants (Advanced). Clinic employees support all clinical services in various locations throughout the hospital; some off-campus and on irregular tours. The incumbent provides technical advice to the employees inside and outside the service, including clinical staff and management. Develop detailed procedures and guidelines to supplement established administrative regulations and/or program guidelines. Typical duties include, but are not limited to:Assumes the role of Advanced Medical Support Assistant (AMSA) during special projects or heavy workload, for leave, vacancies, or other areas when needed Perform scheduling, canceling, re-scheduling of patient appointments and/or consults.Develop/maintain effective and efficient communication with the patient, interdisciplinary team, providers (providing coordination and timeliness of imaging orders in addition to providing education of policy and procedure).Responsible for reporting backlogs, and difficulties in meeting deadlines. In addition, individual patient care will be planned and managed by the Radiology Team with interdisciplinary members to coordinate patient care and effectively and efficiently communicating this care with the patient.Daily review of active/pending orders, and Audio-care communications for accuracy and disposition.Manages their clinical area of expertise and assignment by utilizing and/or preparing the "Pending/Hold Order Request Log" to verify and validate accuracy of imaging orders, resolve issues and ensure all orders have been scheduled or reconciled.Record data into the electronic medical record involving all aspects of Imaging Service sections (past, present and future orders), tech note directions, provider's orders and reconciliation of view alerts.Monitor pre-appointment requirements and relay information to physicians, nurses and/or technologists to assure readiness for patient procedure (e.g., lab work, pt. education for procedures, pre-appointment instructions, screening processes for MRI Safety and CT scan).Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pmRecruitment/Relocation Incentives (Sign-on Bonus): Not AuthorizedPermanent Change of Station (Relocation Assistance): Not AuthorizedPay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases.Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VAInsurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)Telework: Ad Hoc only as determined by the agency policy.Virtual: This is not a virtual position.Functional Statement #: FS 10520Permanent Change of Station (PCS): Not Authorized
