CDU offers the only historically black Doctor of Medicine program west of the Mississippi, and is strongly invested in the local and regional community. The university leads multiple partnerships and programs to provide equitable healthcare resources in a variety of south Los Angeles neighborhoods.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Perform weekly deposit review with Cash Manager.Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliation.Bank ReconciliationsPetty Cash ReconciliationsAll Other Balance Sheet ReconciliationsPrepare monthly journal entries, including:Payroll accrual & reversal.Recognition of deferred revenueExpense accruals: utility bills, insurance, SWAP interestPrepaid expense amortizationConstruction in Progress (CIP transfer from capital equipment 8001)Willowbrook Apartments (monthly subsidiary JE)Bond cost amortizationWells Fargo bond payment accountFixed asset additions and depreciationFixed Asset Inventory CountAmex travel expense reallocationEmployee Health Insurance AdjustmentsCost Share ReceivableVivarium expense transferInvestmentsFringe BenefitsIndirect Cost (IDC)Accounts Receivable & RevenueOther Duties and Responsibilities:Annual audit support (prepared by client list)Education:Regionally Accredited bachelor's degree in accounting (minimum)CPA license (preferred)Experience:Two (2) or more years of grant accounting experience; accounting in a University setting; Great Plains general ledger maintenance and smart-list report creation; eRequester payment request management systems including account set up and maintenance; and Access database, desired.Three (3) to five (5) years senior accounting experience (preferably non-profit)ERP or systems implementation experience.Skills:Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.Work well with others.Manage time well and able to meet deadlines.Able to manage dueling priorities.Willing to work overtime as needed.Able to take and follow directions well.Complexity:The ability to perform highly detailed work with sustained attention and care while providing/obtaining information on numerous inquiries is paramount to success in this position.Physical Demands:Occasional stooping. Frequent standing. Constant walking, sitting, climbing, reaching high/low levels, finger movement, feeling, speaking clearly, hearing conversationally, and seeing far and near.Work Environment:This position is onsite unless otherwise authorized by the manager.Occasionally required to work in confined space.Mental Demands:Frequent variety of unrelated tasks.
