Make a meaningful difference in the life of a 6th grader by providing valuable support as a paraprofessional in a welcoming school environment near Cranston, RI. This contract position offers the opportunity to work closely with a single student on a 1:1 basis, helping them reach their academic and personal goals. The student is verbal, independent, and exhibits moderate intellectual challenges, and will benefit from gentle prompting, encouragement, and thoughtful guidance throughout the school day.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Previous experience as a paraprofessional or in a student support role in schools
- Ability to communicate clearly with students and staff
- Understanding of intellectual and developmental challenges
- Patient, engaging, and positive approach to working with students
- Reliability and professionalism in a school environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized attention and support to a 6th grade student with moderate intellectual needs
- Offer prompts and reminders to encourage participation and completion of tasks
- Collaborate with educators and specialists to implement strategies that foster student success
- Maintain a supportive, nurturing atmosphere that prioritizes the student’s well-being and independence
- Document observations and progress as required
