Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Technologist to join a leading medical center. Responsibilities:

Follow established laboratory procedures for specimen collection, handling, testing, and reporting results accurately.

Maintain meticulous records demonstrating proficiency testing compliance and ensure testing quality aligns with regulatory standards.

Analyze specimens using approved testing methods in accordance with department SOPs.

Review and authorize test results, ensuring accuracy before releasing reports.

Adhere to CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines to maintain a compliant and safe working environment.

Implement and document all quality control activities, calibrations, and instrument maintenance.

Monitor test systems for performance deviations and take corrective actions or escalate issues as needed.

Document all corrective measures taken when test systems deviate from quality standards.

Communicate critical or STAT results promptly to relevant stakeholders and assist in resolving any testing issues.

Maintain comprehensive and organized records of all laboratory testing performed.

Ensure the laboratory workspace remains clean and organized, with proper storage of reagents and test kits.

Participate in training on new procedures and attend ongoing departmental meetings and safety training sessions.

Support regulatory inspections through preparation and cooperation.

Perform additional duties assigned by the supervisor, contributing to the overall efficiency of the laboratory.

Required Skills:

Solid understanding of clinical laboratory testing procedures, including high-complexity testing.

Strong computer literacy with the ability to work across multiple laboratory information systems.

Knowledge of quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) practices.

Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple procedures simultaneously.

Good communication skills for effective interaction with team members and clients.

Capable of maintaining strict patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.

Ability to quickly identify issues affecting test performance and implement or escalate solutions.

Nice to Have Skills:

Experience with laboratory automation systems.

Familiarity with laboratory safety protocols and regulatory compliance processes.

Previous experience working in a hospital or clinical laboratory setting.

Bilingual abilities to assist diverse patient and staff populations.

Preferred Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Chemistry, Biology, or related field (preferred).

Associates degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology.

Certification or eligibility for national certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) from recognized organizations such as ASCP or AMT.

Minimum of 1 year of high-complexity clinical laboratory experience.

State and/or national licensure as applicable.

Other Requirements:

Flexible schedule, with initial training on an 11 am – 7:30 pm Tuesday–Saturday shift, with long-term placement on a 4 pm – 12:30 am schedule.

Ability to handle multiple procedures concurrently and prioritize effectively.

Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with healthcare team members.

Commitment to patient confidentiality and safety compliance.

Physical ability to perform laboratory tasks, including handling specimens and standing for extended periods.

Foreign-educated candidates must provide credential evaluations from IERF; U.S.-educated candidates must submit official transcripts.
