We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join a team in Cincinnati, Ohio in a contract-to-permanent capacity. This role will support core accounting operations across month-end close, reconciliations, reporting, and day-to-day financial activities while helping maintain strong internal controls. The ideal candidate brings solid general ledger experience, sound analytical judgment, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:
• Lead assigned portions of the monthly close cycle by preparing reports, reviewing financial results, analyzing fluctuations, and completing cash-related reconciliations within established timelines.
• Create and record journal entries for accruals, prepaid expenses, recurring activity, and other transactions, ensuring each entry is supported by clear documentation.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts on a timely basis, investigate discrepancies, and maintain accurate account support for review.
• Assist with project-based accounting and revenue recognition activities, including work tied to percentage-of-completion and milestone billing arrangements when applicable.
• Support inventory accounting by reviewing valuation, reconciling inventory records to the general ledger, and participating in physical counts and cycle count procedures.
• Provide backup support for accounts payable and accounts receivable processes such as invoice coding, matching documentation, and applying customer payments.
• Monitor bank activity and contribute to cash management tasks, including payment processing and administration of online banking access.
• Help uphold accounting policies, internal controls, and documentation standards to protect company assets and promote compliance.
• Prepare schedules and supporting materials for audits, financial statements, forecasts, and management reporting, while also contributing to process improvements and special projects.
• Maintain fixed asset records, track capital spending, and assist with profitability analysis and key financial performance reporting.• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 3–5 years of progressively responsible accounting experience.
• Hands-on experience with month-end close, journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications; experience with D365 is preferred.
• Knowledge of general ledger accounting principles with the ability to analyze data and resolve issues effectively.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with strong attention to detail and accountability.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic work environment.
• Exposure to project accounting, revenue recognition, and percentage-of-completion or milestone-based billing is preferred.
