BUILDING PLAN REVIEWER (CLASS CODE 4245)

Responsibilities Under general supervision, checks residential and commercial building plans and designs to assure conformance with pertinent codes, ordinances and regulations. Assists contractors, architects, engineers and the public concerning construction requirements. Monitors and initiates general building code review correspondence and coordinates the implementation of required changes during ongoing construction projects. Qualifications Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering or a closely related degree and one (1) year of experience in architecture, building inspection, or plan examination. Active Certification as a Building Plan Examiner from the International Code Council. Or a high school diploma or GED and five (5) years of responsible experience in residential or commercial plan review, residential general contracting or building construction management. Required to obtain International Code Council Building Plan Examiner certification prior to the end of the probationary period; a current Louisiana Architecture license may substitute.
