We are looking for an organized and detail-focused Accounting Specialist / JR Staff Accountant to support daily financial operations in Austin, Texas. This position is suited for someone who is comfortable working with accounting systems, managing multiple deadlines, and maintaining accurate records in a collaborative environment. The role offers the opportunity to contribute across core accounting functions while helping improve reporting, controls, and day-to-day processes.

Responsibilities:
• Manage day-to-day accounts payable and accounts receivable activities, ensuring timely and accurate processing of transactions.
• Perform daily cash activity tasks, including monitoring account activity, preparing deposits, and recording banking transactions.
• Calculate and process commission payments, invoices, and outgoing disbursements with a strong focus on accuracy.
• Reconcile bank accounts, review ledger activity, and assist with audits to support reliable financial records.
• Provide support for payroll administration and help prepare year-end documentation, including 1099 reporting.
• Maintain organized financial files by entering data, updating spreadsheets, and managing scanned and physical documents.
• Respond to accounting-related inquiries through the help desk system and communicate financial information clearly to internal stakeholders.
• Assist with month-end and management reporting, special projects, and initiatives that strengthen accounting procedures and workflow efficiency.• Working knowledge of core accounting functions, including general ledger activity, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll support, and journal entries.
• Background in accounting through a degree, certificate program, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to research discrepancies and resolve issues efficiently.
• Advanced attention to detail and the ability to organize work effectively while handling multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Google Sheets, and Google Docs for reporting and documentation.
• Solid mathematical ability, including comfort with percentages, reconciliations, and basic financial analysis.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, along with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively while handling confidential information appropriately.
• Experience with sales tax, corporate tax, corporate tax returns, QuickBooks, Zendesk, or payroll platforms is helpful but not required.
