About the Role
The Company is seeking an Executive Director for its Environmental Health Legal team. The successful candidate will be a lawyer with a strong background in environmental and public health, dedicated to using the law to protect and promote the health of all residents. The role involves guiding the development of environmental health regulations, analyzing the impact of legislative initiatives, and serving as the primary liaison with administrative hearing and tribunal systems. The Executive Director will also be responsible for supervising a team of legal and regulatory professionals, managing multiple projects, and ensuring the efficient completion of legal work. A key aspect of the position is the creative and innovative use of legal tools to address environmental health issues, particularly those affecting communities at greater risk. Applicants for the Executive Director position should have a Juris Doctor degree, be admitted to the New York State Bar, and have at least four years of relevant legal experience, with a minimum of 18 months in a supervisory capacity. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills, both written and oral, are essential, as is the ability to manage multiple initiatives and work effectively in a team. Experience with administrative hearing and tribunal systems, as well as a background in environmental health and public health, is highly valued. The role requires a leader who can inspire innovative policy ideas and is committed to the mission of the organization.
