Position Summary We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Housekeeping Worker. In this role, the successful candidate is responsible for maintaining an approved level of cleanliness and sanitary conditions of the areas assigned within the Medical Center. Job Responsibilities Maintains established safety and infection control guidelines, follows department safety guidelines when using equipment and moving furniture, utilizes proper body mechanics, requests assistance for lifting or moving items too large or too heavy. Wears gloves at all times, follows established infection control procedures, washes hands frequently, prevents cross contamination, advises supervisor of hazardous conditions, posts wet floor signs and takes other actions to prevent accidents caused by wet floor as designated by departmental policy. Sweeps, mops, vacuums, collects trash, polishes floors using buffing/burnishing machines, performs high dusting, spot washes, cleans doors, removes marks, cleans and makes beds, washes toilets, cleans furniture, empties trash receptacles, cleans blinds, radiators, railings, stairways, lights, vents, door frames, picture frames, washes porters closets, equipment, replenishes cleaning supplies. Uses bed tracking system, maintains supplies, performs thorough cleaning per schedule, empties trash, disposes properly, cleans interior/exterior as needed. Uses proper techniques to keep floors lint/dirt free, vacuums carpeted areas, polishes floors with burnishers, ensures shine, removes marks, sweeps after burnishing. Washes beds, sets up discharge rooms, operates bed tracking system for receiving discharges. Performs 7-Cleaning Steps daily, dusts, spot washes walls, damp wipes surfaces using bleach or approved disinfectant, disinfects bathrooms, restocks supplies, empties and re‑lines trash, removes finger marks, performs high dusting as required. Uses germicidal cleaner for toilets, knows hospital safety protocols (RACE, PASS, chemical and trash safety, MSDS), disinfects areas soiled by blood, body fluids, feces. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Must be able to communicate and understand simple directions in English. Must be able to read MSDS & chemical labels. Preferred Qualifications 1–2 years experience cleaning in a health care environment preferred but not required.
