Assistant or Associate Professor, Hematology Oncology, Medical and Cancer Genetics Position Overview Title: Assistant or Associate Professor, Hematology Oncology, Medical and Cancer Genetics Position Description Assistant or Associate Professor on the Clinician Scholar pathway dedicated to clinical service, research, and academic pursuits. This full‑time faculty member is collaboratively appointed at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center (Fred Hutch) and the University of Washington (UW), specializing in medical genetics research and clinical care for oncology patients. The role is at the Assistant or Associate Professor level (without tenure) and includes participation in clinical and instructional activities, ongoing clinical and laboratory research, development of independent research programs, oversight of advanced practice providers and fellows, and teaching to providers and the general medical community. Responsibilities Provide clinical care and risk assessment for complex and high‑risk oncology patients in the cancer genetics clinical service. Design, conduct, and oversee clinical and laboratory research programs related to cancer genetics and precision prevention. Mentor and supervise advanced practice providers, fellows, and trainees in inpatient and outpatient rotations. Deliver informal teaching sessions and formal lectures to providers, trainees, and the medical community. Maintain protected research time and serve on faculty committees and service activities as required. Qualifications MD/DO degree (or foreign equivalent). Board eligible or certified (or foreign equivalent) in at least one of the following areas: Medical Genetics; Medical Oncology or Hematology with experience in cancer genetics; or another relevant clinical field with experience in cancer genetics. Eligibility for medical licensure in Washington State. Demonstrated record in clinical research involving cancer genetics (preferred).
