Accountant

A growing outsourced accounting firm founded over a decade ago, based in the Richmond, VA area, exclusively serving nonprofits and mission-driven organizations nationwide is seeking an Accountant to join their growing team.

In this role, you'll manage a portfolio of clients rather than a single set of books - handling bookkeeping, compliance, and financial statement/tax workpaper prep while working closely with a team of CPAs and nonprofit finance veterans.

Location: Richmond, VA area - hybrid to start, fully remote after 90 days

Responsibilities

• Manage bookkeeping, accounting, compliance, and advisory work across multiple clients simultaneously
• Prepare complete and accurate workpapers for financial statements and business tax returns
• Apply strong technical accounting and tax knowledge to ensure high-quality client service
• Collaborate directly with client contacts and internal team members to track progress and resolve questions
• Perform ad-hoc financial analysis to support client decision-making
• Identify opportunities to improve internal processes or client workflows

Requirements

• 3+ years of public accounting experience
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent education
• Proficiency with QuickBooks Online and Excel
• Experience managing multiple client engagements at once
• Strong communication skills and comfort owning client relationships directly
• CPA license (active or in progress) or nonprofit/fund accounting exposure a plus
