Undergraduate Studies Coordinator (Administrative Support Coordinator II)

Position Summary The Undergraduate Studies Coordinator supports a diverse portfolio of academic programs and student success initiatives across the university, including General Studies, Undeclared Student Success, IS3D, Supplemental Instruction, mentoring programs, and academic internships. Key Responsibilities Coordinate, facilitate, and implement office operations supporting academic and student services for undergraduates. Manage hiring processes for part‑time faculty, teaching associates, and student assistants in compliance with university procedures. Develop and support class schedule production in collaboration with the Office of the Registrar and campus partner units. Serve as primary point of contact for visitors while supporting front desk operations and shared spaces. Assist with program operations including event planning, purchasing, payroll support, field placements, and inventory management. Why Join Us? Non‑exempt under FLSA and eligible for overtime compensation. Standard work hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (may vary). Location: SDSU campus, San Diego. Department Summary Faculty Advancement and Student Success (FASS) fosters inclusive academic excellence through support for faculty careers, professional development, community engagement, and student academic support and enrichment, including Undergraduate Studies and the Weber Honors College. Education and Experience Applicants should have functional knowledge of standard office procedures, communication skills in English, and the ability to learn new office technology systems. The qualification is typically met through a high school program, technical/vocational program, or similar, combined with several years of related office work experience. Key Qualifications Ability to conceptualize, organize, initiate, and implement complex, multi‑faceted projects independently. Clear communication with students, faculty, staff, and administrators. Understanding of student success goals, initiatives, and programs. Leadership, moderation, and guidance experience for large and small groups. Experience managing program expenses. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Experience in higher education, student recruitment, training, hiring, and mentoring preferred. Familiarity with SDSU campus information systems (e.g., my.SDSU) preferred. Diplomatic skills fostering collaboration in a complex higher education environment. Compensation and Benefits Step placement is based on qualifications and professional experience. Initial step will not exceed Step 1 ($4,367). The CSU Classification Salary Range is $4,367 – $6,362 per month (Step 1 – Step 20). Future increases are subject to contract negotiations. Generous time off: 15 paid holidays, vacation, and sick leave. Retirement: CalPERS pension plan with retiree healthcare and reciprocal agreements with other California public retirement systems.
