Position Summary

We are seeking an Accounts Payable Clerk to join our accounting team. The ideal candidate will have 25 years of hands-on accounts payable experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage a high volume of invoices and transactions accurately and efficiently. This position will be responsible for processing invoices, maintaining vendor accounts, reconciling statements, preparing payments, and supporting the overall accounting function.

Key Responsibilities

• Process and code invoices accurately and efficiently.
• Enter invoices and payment information into the accounting/ERP system.
• Match invoices with purchase orders, receipts, and supporting documentation.
• Verify invoice approvals and resolve discrepancies as needed.
• Prepare and process vendor payments, including checks and electronic payments.
• Reconcile vendor statements and research outstanding balances.
• Maintain accurate and organized accounts payable records.
• Respond to vendor inquiries regarding invoices, payments, and account balances.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities.
• Reconcile accounts payable subledger information with the general ledger.
• Maintain proper documentation and ensure compliance with company accounting procedures.
• Assist with 1099 reporting and other year-end AP requirements.
• Research and resolve discrepancies between invoices, purchase orders, receipts, and vendor statements.
• Provide support to the accounting team with special projects and other duties as needed.

Qualifications

• 25 years of accounts payable or related accounting experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; accounting coursework or an associate degree is a plus.
• Experience working with an accounting or ERP system.
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively to a team.
• Professional approach when communicating with vendors, customers, and internal departments.
