Payroll Administrator

Benefits Offering Union Benefits – Local #3, IBEW Local Union #3 Pension (after 5 years) IBEW Pension (after 5 years) NEBF (National Electrical Benefit Fund) Medical, Dental, and Health Reimbursement coverage Educational and Cultural Fund Deferred salary and annuity fund plans Social Security Payback Paid sick leave, vacation, and bereavement (subject to contract negotiations) Compensation $50,000 - $75,000 / year (total compensation) Position Summary A Payroll Administrator ensures accurate and timely employee compensation by processing payroll, managing deductions, and ensuring compliance with tax and labor regulations. The role works closely with project management teams to prepare and process weekly payroll for employees, including calculating wages, overtime, commissions, and deductions. The administrator also reviews timesheets, tracks attendance, reconciles discrepancies, generates payroll reports for management, and assists with internal/external audits. Primary/Essential Responsibilities and Duties Track daily attendance and review payroll time sheets Enter and review staff hours Reconcile and correct discrepancies Generate and submit general payroll reports Perform additional administrative tasks Required Skills and Qualifications 2+ years of administrative experience General understanding of labor laws, union contracts, tax regulations, and basic accounting principles Knowledge of payroll and construction industry standards and regulations Proficiency with project management tools such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), AL Mobile, and ADP High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to maintain confidentiality Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team Strong time management and problem‑solving abilities Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Primarily office‑based with computer work at a desk May require occasional visits to project sites for measurements, coordination, or inspections Frequent sitting, reading, and use of computer keyboards and monitors Occasional standing, walking, or climbing during field visits Equal Employment Opportunity RailWorks is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
