We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Mental Health Counselor to join our team at Diverse Counseling Center in New City, New York. This position requires effective remote collaboration with other healthcare providers, ensuring comprehensive care delivery to clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct initial assessments through preliminary interviews, gathering comprehensive information to document clients' mental, behavioral, and emotional health from the first consultation to the end of treatment.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment and intervention plans based on evidenced-based practices, ensuring cultural sensitivity and relevance.
• Facilitate both individual and group therapy sessions, utilizing various therapeutic modalities suited to client needs, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or Dialectical Behavior Therapy.
• Regularly monitor and evaluate client progress against treatment goals and adjust plans as necessary to ensure effectiveness.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of mental health specialists, physicians, and social workers to coordinate care and share insights on client progress.
• Communicate with psychiatrists and attending physicians for clients requiring hospitalization, ensuring a seamless transition and continuity of care.
• Identify potential barriers to recovery and implement preventive measures to address them promptly.
• Provide education and support to family members and primary caregivers, helping them navigate the complexities of mental health challenges.

Patient Population / Client Focus

You will work with a diverse population facing various mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and addiction disorders. Your expertise will be vital in supporting clients through critical life transitions and ensuring they receive optimal care tailored to their unique circumstances.

Qualifications

• A Master’s degree or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
• Current and valid licensure as an LMFT, LMHC, LCSW, or LCSW-R in New York State.
• A passing score on the National Counselor Examination (NCE) and/or the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE).
• Proficiency in using electronic health record systems, particularly AVATAR or similar platforms.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to articulate complex concepts clearly and empathetically.

Preferred Experience

• Previous experience working in a clinical setting as a mental health counselor, with a track record of successful client outcomes.
• Familiarity with the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA) best practices and standards of care.
• Experience managing clients with underlying physical health conditions and addiction issues is highly desirable.
• In-depth knowledge of pharmacological interventions and their impacts on mental health.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills, demonstrating a sympathetic and understanding nature essential for effective counseling.

Compensation and Benefits
