Position Title: Part-Time, Counselor Clerk

Reports to: Principal/Department Head Pay Grade: Standard Part-Time Hourly Rate Terms of Employment: Based on assignment as defined on pages 20-21 FLSA Classification: Non-exempt

Part-Time work schedule will not exceed twenty-five (25) hours per week.

Funding: This position is locally funded

Job Scope: Uses significant independent judgment and familiarity with the field to perform work. May be responsible for the administration of various moderate and high complexity departmental programs and may lead a group of employees. May develop policies and procedures and oversee the implementation and execution of them

Position Summary: Facilitate the efficient operation of the Counselor's office and provide clerical services for the department.

Essential Functions / Key Responsibilities:

• Organize and manage the routine work activities in the counseling department.
• Perform varied tasks in the preparation of correspondence, forms, reports, etc. for the counselors.
• Assist in compiling information for preparing various reports for the department.
• Exercise good telephone etiquette, take reliable messages, and route to appropriate staff.
• Receive, sort, and distribute mail and other documents to other department staff members.
• Maintain a filing system for the department.
• Ensure confidentiality with student records.
• Keep informed of and comply with all state and district policies and regulations concerning primary job functions.
• Ability to interact appropriately with students, parents, and with school staff.
• Ability to work as a member for a team.
• Perform such other duties as the Counselor may require.
• Work under the direction of campus administration.

• Daily attendance at work and punctuality are essential functions of the job.
• Perform other related duties as assigned within the appropriate skill and experience capabilities expected for this position.

Minimum Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent (recognized by the Texas Education Agency or a regional accrediting agency) Revised: 01/04/2024

Job Description: Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the employee.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Effective organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient computer skills and ability to maintain an organized filing system.
• Ability to follow oral and written directions.
• Proven ability to identify and participate in the resolution of issues/problems.

Working Conditions Work Environment:

• Computer, computer software programs and peripherals, teacher resource materials and equipment, copier, fax, and other equipment applicable to position.
• Frequent exposure to: temperature extremes (hot and cold), humidity extremes, noise. Occasional exposure to: biological hazards (communicable diseases, bacteria, insects, mold, fungi, etc.

Physical Demands/Requirements:

• Maintain emotional control under stress; work with frequent interruptions/deadlines; frequent sitting, standing, walking, climbing, balancing, pulling and pushing; reaching, repetitive hand motions, hearing, speaking clearly, visual acuity and prolonged data input; occasional lift/carry light, moderate 15-44 pounds.
