Job Overview The University of Cincinnati College of Law, an ABA‑accredited law school, seeks lawyers and judges to teach a Legal Ethics course to students on a part‑time basis during Fall 2026. In this course students consider the lawyer‑client relationship in realistic scenarios, evaluating the choices an ethical lawyer must make to establish an effective relationship. The course includes instruction in the ABA Model Rules, Ohio Rules of Professional Conduct, and the history, goals, structure, values, and responsibilities of the legal profession. Essential Functions Prepare the syllabus, select teaching materials, books for student purchase, course materials, assessments, and exams; devise lesson plans. Provide a classroom environment conducive to learning. Teach the assigned course using effective pedagogical methods. Track student attendance and refer students to Administration as needed. Use Canvas to post assignments, syllabi, and other reference materials, and to communicate with students. Read submitted student work and provide written feedback in a timely manner. Hold office hours to provide individual direction and assessment of progress. Coordinate with Administration to schedule make‑up classes for any cancellations. Grade mid‑term and final exams, and other assessments per College rules and timelines. Review student‑completed course evaluations to analyze perceptions and improve teaching. Adhere to all University and College of Law policies. Complete employment documentation and required trainings. Minimum Requirements Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA‑accredited law school or equivalent. Five years post‑J.D. work experience in legal practice or related field (exceptions for fewer years when co‑teaching with qualified colleague). Effective communication skills. Professional composure and demeanor at all times. Promotion of the College’s vision, mission, and core values. Additional Qualifications Considered Prior teaching experience is desirable but not essential; applicants must demonstrate evidence of teaching potential.
