For more information, please visit Brief Job Description The Manufacturing Technician III (Packaging Mechanic) reports to a Supervisor or Manager on the Manufacturing floor, supporting Packaging operations. The position involves execution of setup, changeover, repairs, and preventative maintenance for all equipment used in the production processes, and may include light packaging duties as needed. The role requires mechanical and electronic troubleshooting, and the Technician will also provide basic mechanical training to Packaging Technicians and serve as a resource for continuous improvement projects. Primary Responsibilities Operate, monitor, troubleshoot, and perform maintenance tasks on various packaging equipment including picker, sorter, labeler, packer, checkweigher, printer, inspection equipment, palletizer, stretch-wrapper, and conveyors. Work collaboratively with technical resources to resolve equipment issues as needed, acting as a first-line technical resource for the team. Provide technical support to production technicians, addressing equipment start‑up, machine recipe selection, recipe format set‑up, critical sensor challenges, and production issues. Proactively monitor equipment and component‑level conditions and perform preventative maintenance tasks. Identify and investigate abnormal conditions and potential defects to prevent unplanned equipment downtime. Perform technician tasks as required, including start‑up, equipment operation, manual packaging, batch execution, material handling, rework, cleaning, housekeeping and line‑clearance activities. Operate light material handling equipment (motorized and manual pallet jacks, non‑motorized lifts) as needed to move, store or deliver material safely. Monitor material quality of incoming, in‑process and finished materials and promptly escalate concerns to the Lead Technician and Process Facilitator. Complete batch records, GMP documentation, and CMMS entries, and perform mathematical computations as needed. Adhere to safety procedures and hazards including PPE, ergonomics, LOTO, human safety, material handling, chemical handling, and spill controls. Report all discrepancies to the Process Facilitator and perform work requirements in accordance with SOPs, cGMPs, and quality procedures. Other Responsibilities Support lean activities and process improvement work such as performing 5S, participating in problem‑solving, and tracking OEE and performance data for analysis. Lead Level0 problem‑solving on equipment‑related issues as needed. Act as a certified OJT trainer on assigned equipment or process tasks, training and evaluating other team members. Review process documents such as operational SOPs, PM procedures, forms and batch records for accuracy. Identify and suggest process improvements while maintaining quality and cGMP compliance. Execute protocols required for equipment qualification and process validation. Assist other work areas within the Process Execution Team as required. Perform all other assigned duties with minimal supervision under the direction of the Process Facilitator or designee. Acquire and maintain all required certifications and qualifications for the assigned work area. Hours Day Shift: 6am – 6:30pm (2/2/3 Schedule, 12‑hour rotating). The schedule reflects the employee’s expected hours at hire and may be modified at any time. Minimum Qualifications Prior experience in a regulated production environment, responsible for equipment maintenance and performance. Proficiency in understanding, reading, writing, communicating, and following instructions in English. Ability to lift and handle equipment change parts, tooling, and materials for maintenance and repair. Preferred Qualifications High school graduate, vocational school graduate, or equivalent; Associate’s in engineering or mechanical trade preferred. Previous experience with automated equipment. Training in mechanics, hydraulics, and electronics systems. Knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems such as SAP.
