Work Environment\n

Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct individual therapy sessions in clients' homes or group therapy sessions within our outpatient clinic.
\n
• Utilize evidence-based therapeutic techniques to reduce high-risk behaviors, including self-injurious behaviors (SIB) and physical aggression, while teaching vital anger management and social skills.
\n
• Enhance decision-making skills for both the child and caregiver to address various in-home behavioral challenges.
\n
• Engage collaboratively with the Child Family Treatment Team and other specialists to create holistic treatment plans that support youth and family unity.
\n
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including intake assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes, as per organizational standards.
\n
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, presenting insights and recommendations based on your findings and interactions with clients.
\n

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

Your primary focus will be on providing in-home therapy for children aged 3 to 20 who present with a range of developmental and intellectual disabilities. This includes working closely with their families and caregivers to ensure a comprehensive approach to mental health support that respects cultural and individual client differences.

Qualifications\n

• A Master’s degree in Counseling, Family Therapy, Social Work, or a closely related field.
\n
• Possession of a valid and unrestricted Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) license.
\n
• Availability for a minimum of 5-10 hours per week, primarily during after-school hours from 4 PM to 7 PM, with some flexibility for weekend sessions.
\n
• A commitment to promoting positive behavior support and interventions for children with special needs.
\n
• Proven ability to create a safe and supportive therapeutic environment for children and their families.
\n
• A valid driver's license and access to a registered vehicle for travel to client sessions.
\n
• Eligibility to pass a thorough criminal background check, including fingerprinting.
\n

Preferred Experience\n

• Experience providing therapy specifically to children with intellectual and developmental disabilities is a significant advantage.

• Knowledge of behavioral therapy techniques and interventions applicable to high-risk populations.

• Prior experience working in community mental health settings is a plus.
