CHIEF ENGINEER I (CORRECTIONAL FACILITY)

Job Title and Classification Chief Engineer I (Correctional Facility) Salary: $8,408.00 - $8,900.00 per month. Location: 44750 60th Street West, Lancaster, CA 93536. Responsibilities Maintain buildings and grounds throughout the institution. Provide in‑service training for personnel in the Plant Operations section. Represent Plant Operations on external, facility, or departmental committees as directed by the Correctional Plant Manager. Inspect all assigned work areas daily and record entries in the work log. Quarterly review duty statements with staff and record dates of review on the Duty Statement Review Sheet. Ensure incarcerated people are supervised, including movement to and from work areas. Minimum Requirements Full‑time employee with established eligibility for the state (list or LEAP or SROA). Background investigation, Live Scan fingerprinting, and tuberculosis testing requirements met. Verification of qualification through transcripts or equivalent experience as required. Desirable Qualifications Knowledge of CDCR HR practices. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Supervisory or leadership experience. Strong interpersonal skills and sound judgment. Ability to delegate responsibilities while ensuring timeliness and quality of products. Work effectively in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment.
