Senior Planner- Municipal

Job Description

We are currently seeking a NJ Licensed Professional Planner who is familiar with the Municipal Land Use Law (MLUL) and related New Jersey planning statutes and regulations to lead project-level planners and support staff on multi-disciplinary planning projects.

Responsibilities:

\n
• Preparation of master plans and master plan re-examination reports, zoning ordinances and development regulations, review of development applications, planning reports and analyses, redevelopment studies and plans, zoning ordinances, and affordable housing plans and studies.
\n
• Review and prepare local municipal ordinances.
\n
• Perform as Project Manager for planning projects in charge of staff, budget, and schedule.
\n
• Prepare evaluation criteria of Municipal Planning review letters/documents.
\n
• Undertake zoning, land use and urban design evaluations to assist Principal/Director.
\n
• Municipal appointments as planning board, zoning board, or municipal planner.
\n
• Review development applications and prepare planning reports for planning and zoning boards
\n
• Plan and facilitate public participation events to formulate and develop land use or community plans.
\n
• Lead the preparation of design guidelines for open space, building form, project review and site planning.
\n
• Conduct field investigations / site visits to compile and analyze data on factors affecting land use.
\n
• Marketing proposal writing, with assistance from Corporate Communications.
\n
• Attend night meetings or public engagement events if required for project.
\n

Required Attributes:

\n
• Required education: Degree in Planning, Architecture, or Landscape Architecture.
\n
• 10 years experience
\n
• AICP Certification.
\n
• NJ Licensed Professional Planner (PP)
\n
• Computer Skills: MS Word and Excel, Adobe Suite.
\n
• Comprehensive planning experience, with understanding of urban design and community planning principles.
\n
• Familiarity with or experience in GIS.
\n
• Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision.
\n
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
\n
• Ability to prioritize and manage tasks effectively.
\n
• Excellent organizational skills.
\n

Preferred Attributes:

\n
• Experience in community visioning, public outreach, and charrettes
\n
• Layout and graphic design for public engagement exhibits, massing plans, and conceptual urban design
\n
• Understanding and experience in innovative planning, design, and zoning techniques, including form-based codes a plus
\n
• Experience in resiliency and sustainable planning techniques a plus
\n
