Advanced Oncology Nurse Coordinator, RN, OCN PreferredJoin a dedicated healthcare team in the heart of the Midwest region, where compassionate oncology care is a priority. As an Oncology Nurse Coordinator, you will collaborate closely with physicians and mid-level providers to deliver comprehensive assessment, treatment, testing, and education to patients within the oncology practice.Coordinate all aspects of oncology and hematology treatment plans, ensuring adherence to established protocols and maintaining a safe, clean environment.Continuously evaluate patient care plans and prepare patients for appointments by screening and verifying necessary physical assessments and test results.Manage and update patient medication and summary lists in alignment with provider preferences.Document patient care accurately and thoroughly in medical records.Verify medication dosages in collaboration with providers and assist with examinations and procedures within your scope of practice.Coordinate care with internal and external ancillary services, including specialty pharmacies and supportive services.Provide counseling and education to patients and families on all aspects of oncology and hematology, including preventative measures.Maintain authorization for patient medications and procedures, oversee sample medications, and ensure quality control.Administer medications safely according to protocol and assist in maintaining emergency equipment such as crash carts.Ensure all instruments are sterile and ready for procedures, and access implanted ports using sterile techniques.Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary care teams to maintain a safe and effective continuum of care.Document treatments, observations, and investigational protocol information as required.Maintain ongoing oncology education in compliance with accrediting agencies.Graduation from an accredited Registered Nurse program is required. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred.At least one year of healthcare experience is preferred.Current RN license in a Compact state or the state of employment is required.American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory.Oncology Nursing Certification (OCN) is preferred.This role requires considerable mental focus and physical activity, including lifting up to 35 pounds, frequent walking, standing, turning, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, twisting, and reaching.Expect minimal physical discomfort but frequent exposure to communicable diseases, radiation, anti-neoplastic agents, sharps, and other biohazardous materials. The ability to function effectively under stress is essential.
