26-27 AY Temporary Faculty Pool (Lecturer) - Spanish (MCLL) Job no: 556822 Work type: Instructional Faculty - Temporary/Lecturer Location: Fresno Categories: Unit 3 - CFA - California Faculty Association, Temporary, Part Time The Department of Modern and Classical Languages and Literatures believes that the study of a language should enable the student to participate in oral and written communication in the language, gain knowledge and understanding of the cultures of the world, connect with other disciplines and acquire knowledge that may be unavailable to the monolingual English speaker, develop insight into the nature of language and culture, and participate in communities at home and abroad. We are looking for a lecturer to teach Spanish. Candidates should be qualified to teach Spanish 1A, 1B, 2A, 2B, 3, 4A, or 4B, or other related courses as needed. Instructor Responsibility Temporary faculty members are responsible for adherence to and implementation of university and system-wide policies. Instructors are responsible for the preparation, delivery, conducting, proctoring, and grading (as appropriate) of lectures, office hours, homework assignments, quizzes, class projects, and midterm and final exams. All classes must be offered and meet as scheduled throughout the entire semester, in the mode assigned (asynchronous, synchronous, in-person, or hybrid). Conditional Appointment Appointment is contingent upon budget and enrollment considerations and subject to order of assignment provisions in the collective bargaining agreement between California State University and California Faculty Association. Compensation Commensurate with qualifications and experience within salary range placement. The salary range is established by the CSU Salary Schedule (Class Code = 2358 for Academic Year Lecturers). For a Master's degree the range is $5,507-6,677 per month for full time (15 WTUs). Salaries are adjusted based on the number of WTUs assigned per term. Anticipated Semester The temporary faculty pool is continuously open; positions are filled as needed. The pool is available for two academic terms; those wishing to remain beyond that must reapply. Fall 2026: August 19, 2026 – December 22, 2026; Spring 2027: January 15, 2027 – May 26, 2027. Required Qualifications Education: A Master’s degree in Spanish or a closely related field from an accredited institution. Experience: Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Preferred Qualifications Commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate level, exhibited through prior teaching experience, evaluations, or other evidence. Successful teaching experience at the undergraduate level. Evidence of work as a professional Spanish translator.
