Fresno State’s student body is over 15 % Asian American and Pacific Islander, and the program offers a minor and a new major starting in 2026‑27. Courses focus on the history and contemporary experiences of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. Instructor Responsibilities Temporary faculty members are responsible for adherence to and implementation of university and system‑wide policies. Responsibilities include preparation, delivery, conducting, proctoring, and grading of lectures, office hours, homework, quizzes, class projects, and midterm and final exams. All classes must be offered and meet on schedule in the mode assigned (asynchronous, synchronous, in‑person, or hybrid). Conditional Appointment Appointment is contingent upon budget and enrollment, and is subject to the order of assignment provisions in the CSU–CFA collective bargaining agreement. Appointees must demonstrate eligibility to work in the United States; CSU Fresno does not sponsor visas for temporary faculty. Compensation Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience, within the CSU salary schedule for Class Code 2358 (Academic Year Lecturer). For a master’s degree holder, the range is $5,507‑$6,677 per month when teaching full time (15 WTUs). Starting salaries are usually at or near the minimum of the range and are adjusted based on WTUs assigned per term. Anticipated Semester The temporary faculty pool is continuously open. Positions are filled as needed based on student enrollment and funding. Appointments are typically made shortly before the start of the academic term. The pool last two academic terms; those wishing to remain beyond that must reapply. Fall 2026: August 19 – December 22, 2026 Spring 2027: January 15 – May 26, 2027 Required Qualifications Education : A master’s degree in Ethnic Studies or a closely related field with an emphasis in Asian American Studies. Experience : Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Preferred Qualifications Commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate level, demonstrated through prior teaching experience and evaluations.
