26-27 AY Temporary Faculty Pool (Lecturer) – Earth & Environmental Sciences Job no: 556745 Work type: Instructional Faculty – Temporary/Lecturer Location: Fresno Instructor Responsibility Temporary faculty members are responsible for adherence to university and system-wide policies as outlined in Academic Policy Manual 306, paragraph 2. Instructors prepare, deliver, conduct, proctor, and grade lectures, office hours, homework assignments, quizzes, class projects, and midterm and final exams. All classes must be offered and meet as scheduled throughout the semester, in the mode assigned (asynchronous, synchronous, in‑person, or hybrid). Conditional Appointment Appointment is contingent upon budget and enrollment considerations and subject to the Order of Work provisions in the collective bargaining agreement between California State University and California Faculty Association. Compensation Pay is commensurate with qualifications and experience within the CSU Salary Schedule (Class Code 2358 for Academic Year Lecturers). For a Master’s degree holder, the range is $5,507–$6,677 per month for full time (15 WTUs). Actual monthly salary will be adjusted based on the number of WTUs assigned per term. Anticipated Semester The temporary faculty pool is continuously open and positions are filled as needed. Appointments are typically made just prior to the start of the academic term. The pool remains in place for two academic terms; candidates wishing to remain beyond that must reapply. Fall 2026: August 19, 2026 – December 22, 2026 Spring 2027: January 15, 2027 – May 26, 2027 Required Qualifications Education: A Master’s degree in Geology, Environmental Science, or a closely related field from an accredited institution. Experience: Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse backgrounds; evidence of successful teaching experience. Eligibility to work in the United States. Preferred Qualifications Commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate level, demonstrated through prior teaching experience and evaluations. Successful teaching experience at the undergraduate level. Ph.D. in Geology, Environmental Science, or a closely related field. Application Procedures Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
