Description

American Traveler is seeking a Level IV NICU Respiratory Therapist for a night shift position at a children's hospital, requiring RRT certification and NICU/PICU experience.

Details

• Level IV NICU setting within a children's hospital respiratory therapy department
• Neonatal and pediatric patient population including PICU cardiac cases
• Night shift, 4x12 hour schedule, 19:00-7:00
• Can offer 36 or 48 hours per week
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required, must work 2 of 3 winter holidays
• Unit uses a self-scheduling model, though desired schedules are not guaranteed
• Utilizes equipment including bubble CPAP, oscillating ventilator, high frequency jet ventilator, and nitric oxide therapy
• Involved in high-risk delivery assistance and neonatal inter-departmental transports

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of NICU and PICU experience required, Level IV NICU experience required
• Cardiac PICU experience preferred
• RRT certification required
• BLS and NRP certifications required
• PALS certification preferred
• ACCS certification preferred
• VA state license required, license required if applicable
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• BSN preferred
• Epic experience required unless otherwise noted
• Skilled in ABG interpretation, airway management, and ventilator management
• Experience with medication delivery systems including MDIs and aerosol setups

Additional Information

• Provide respiratory care to neonatal and pediatric patients including those with ARDS, aspiration, cystic fibrosis, and respiratory distress syndrome
• Perform tracheostomy care, intubation assistance, and pulmonary hygiene
• Participate in bronchoscopy and fresh tracheostomy care
• Float within scope of practice as needed
• No radius rule for this position
• Local candidates accepted
• Previous UVA permanent staff or travelers must have 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning
• External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days
• First-time travelers considered
• Maximum 40 hours of RTO per 13-week contract, all RTO must be disclosed prior to offer acceptance
