About the Job The University of Minnesota Department of Medicine is seeking adynamic and visionary leader to serve as the Division Director ofthe Division of Infectious Diseases and International Medicine. Theideal candidate will have a distinguished record of clinicalexcellence, research productivity, educational engagement andadministrative leadership. The division is seeking a leader who can foster new collaborations,expand its research enterprise, and reimagine academic programs andclinical care delivery. The successful candidate will havedemonstrated academic leadership across clinical care, education,and research missions, along with experience in facultydevelopment, mentoring, sustaining independent research funding,and maintaining a productive scholarly portfolio marked bypeer-reviewed publications. Unique Opportunities Collaborate with world-class researchers in the University ofMinnesota’s Center for Immunology, an interdisciplinary researchprogram devoted to advancing the field of immunology. Collaboratewith world-class researchers in the University of MinnesotaInstitute on Infectious Diseases who seek to identify and respondto emerging and contemporary infectious diseases for outbreak anddisease mitigation and control, and to train the next generation ofpandemic and epidemic response experts. Provide leadership for newand innovative clinical and academic programs. Core Responsibilities Leadership and Administration Provide strategic leadership and direction for the Division ofInfectious Diseases and International Medicine aligning with theoverall mission and goals of the Department of Medicine and theInstitution Oversee the clinical, research, and educational activities ofthe Division Develop and enact a plan for divisional expansion and programgrowth Manage the Division's budget, resources, and personnel Recruit, mentor, and retain faculty and staff Foster a collaborative and supportive environment that promotesexcellence and innovation Represent the Division within the Department of Medicine, theInstitution, and the broader medical community Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensureefficient and effective operations Foster and sustain a divisional environment that is welcoming,diverse, and inclusive, promoting and supporting individual facultygoals using a holistic approach Clinical Care Maintain a clinical practice in infectious diseases providingexpert consultation and care to patients Work with the Service Line on clinical operations; ensuring thedelivery of high-quality, patient-centered care within theDivision Promote the development and implementation of best practices ininfectious disease care Research Promote and support research activities within the Division,including basic translational and clinical research Maintain an active research program and provide support forfaculty research and scholarly activities tailored to individualinterests Foster collaboration with other departments and institutions toadvance infectious diseases research Education Provide support and assistance to the Infectious DiseaseFellowship Program in developing and implementing innovativeeducational programs to enhance the knowledge and skills oftrainees Promote faculty development in teaching and mentorship Quality Improvement Promote a culture of continuous improvement, patient safety,and innovation Ensure compliance with all regulatory and accreditationrequirements Discover the vibrant heart of the Midwest by making Minneapolis-St. Paul your new home. Division of Infectious Diseases and International Medicine: The Division is comprised of over 50 faculty, including affiliatedsites. Many faculty have multifaceted roles as educators,clinicians, and research professionals both locally andinternationally. Our division takes great pride in achievingexcellence and we continually strive to set the bar in the areas ofeducation, research and patient care. Our Infectious Diseases specialists deliver comprehensive andcompassionate care focused on improving patient outcomes. Weprovide high level expertise, in-depth consultation, andcross-specialty collaboration. The division currently holds fifteen active NIH grants totaling$7,578,347. The Infectious Diseases Division prides itself oncontributing towards a strong collaborative research community. Weare committed to the continued advancement of innovative researchto address infectious diseases from bench to bedside. The division supports two infectious disease fellowship trainingprograms: an ACGME-accredited Infectious Disease FellowshipProgram; and a one-year Transplant Infectious Disease Fellowshipprogram. Our faculty are dedicated to educating early-careerinfectious disease specialists to build a strong foundation bothclinically and in the research arena. Pay and Benefits Pay Range This role is dually employed by the University ofMinnesota and University of Minnesota Physicians. Salary at the University of Minnesota is dependent upon academic effort of the person hired, and begins at $55,000. Clinical salary, aligned with clinical effort, is provided through University of Minnesota Physicians. Total combined salary is anticipated to be in the range of $325,000 - $350,000 and is based on AAMC salary benchmarks.
