Assistant/Associate/Full Professor- Division of Rheumatic and Autoimmune Diseases

About the Job The University seeks a highly motivated physician-scientist to join a multidisciplinary research team focused on the development and maintenance of immune self-tolerance. This position emphasizes independent and collaborative basic immunology research with translation to humans having autoimmune disease, with opportunities for career development toward NIH funding and academic advancement. This role includes a combination of 75% research and 25% clinical care with a strong expectation of sustained scholarly productivity and leadership in autoimmune diseases research. Duties and Responsibilities Research (75%) Lead and contribute scientifically to NIH-funded research focused on the development and maintenance of T cell immune tolerance Oversee study design and regulatory compliance Supervise and mentor trainees, research staff, and collaborators Develop independent research projects aligned with division priorities and obtain independent funding to support these academic endeavors Disseminate findings through peer-reviewed publications and scientific presentations Contribute to grant writing and development of future funding proposals Clinical (25%) Provide outpatient clinical care within the Fairview Health System and inpatient consultation at the University of Minnesota Medical Center for patients with rheumatic diseases Participate in teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows Maintain clinical excellence in the diagnosis and management of complex rheumatic and autoimmune diseases Additional Information The University of Minnesota is committed to fostering an academic environment that supports career development, and innovation Applicants of all nationalities are encouraged to apply Qualifications Required Qualifications (Must be clearly documented in all application materials) MD or DO degree Completion of an ABIM-accredited Rheumatology fellowship Prior clinical experience in Rheumatology Demonstrated ability to conduct basic immunobiology research Preferred Qualifications NIH career development award success (e.g., history of funded NIH F32 or K08) Active or eligible for Minnesota medical licensure Experience conducting laboratory-based immunology experiments Track record of grant writing and external funding applications Experience mentoring trainees (students, residents, fellows) About the Department The Division of Rheumatic and Autoimmune Diseases at the University of Minnesota is a globally recognized leader in Rheumatic Diseases clinical research as well as fundamental science focused on the pathogenesis and treatment of all autoimmune diseases. The division maintains longstanding research collaborations with the Center for Immunology and participates in clinical care through the M Physicians practice and the Fairview Health System. Pay and Benefits Pay Range: This role is dually employed by the University of Minnesota and University of Minnesota Physicians. Salary at the University of Minnesota is dependent upon academic effort of the person hired, and begins at $55,000. Total combined salary is anticipated to be in the range of $206,845-$240,127. Clinical salary, aligned with clinical effort, is provided through University of Minnesota Physicians. Total salary is competitive with the market and based on AAMC salary benchmarks.
