Account Clerk II

Account Clerk II The purpose of this position is to perform necessary accounting activities, such as monitoring and maintaining accounts receivable payments for invoice requisition and check processing, processing clerical forms, preparing liens, setting up new accounts, making adjustments on existing accounts, processing licenses and permits, and mailing checks. The Account Clerk II is expected to be familiar with and utilize generally accepted accounting principles. Work is performed under the direction of the Director of Finance. Essential functions include working with residents on a daily basis over the phone and in person, processing cash, checks, and credit card payments, maintaining new and existing accounts, processing and filing chapter 13 and chapter 7 forms to the bankruptcy courts, preparing liens and lien releases to be sent to St. Louis County Recorder of Deeds, setting up accounts for new businesses and liquor licenses, processing dog licenses and dog park tags, assisting with mailing accounts payable checks, assisting with reconciliations, assisting with greeting guests at the window, on the phone, or by email, serving as a back-up for other positions in the Finance Department, and performing other duties as required and/or assigned. Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent certification, between one and three years of experience in a related field, basic understanding of accounting, experience with customer service preferred, ability to multitask, and knowledge of, and experience with, computer software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
