Key Responsibilities

• Direct and implement individualized physical therapy treatment plans based on comprehensive evaluations of patients, tailoring approaches to prevent disability and relieve pain.
• Oversee and provide guidance to Physical Therapy Assistants to ensure the safe and effective delivery of therapy services, facilitating their professional development.
• Conduct functional assessments through diagnostic tests related to muscle, nerve, and joint functioning, leading to precise evaluations of patient needs.
• Evaluate and adjust rehabilitation strategies according to the home environment or clinic setting, promoting patients' independence with appropriate recommendations.
• Administer therapeutic exercises and manual techniques, continuously motivating and assisting patients with non-manual exercises and functional activities.
• Monitor patient progress, documenting changes in condition and response to therapy, and communicating updates effectively to physicians and case managers.
• Participate actively as a member of the interdisciplinary team during case conferences to collaboratively develop and evaluate comprehensive treatment plans.
• Educate patients and their families about physical therapy techniques, proper use of support devices, and overall health improvement strategies.
• Timely prepare clinical records, including progress notes and discharge summaries, adhering to regulatory expectations and ensuring compliance.
• Engage with the local community on health-related initiatives, serving as an advocate for home healthcare services.

Patient Population / Client Focus

This position focuses primarily on outpatients seeking rehabilitation services. You will work with a diverse population ranging from individuals recovering from orthopedic surgery and age-related conditions to those managing chronic pain or neurological disorders. Qualifications

• A valid Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy (DPT) from an accredited institution.
• A current and valid physical therapy license in the state of Virginia.

• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a primary focus on patient engagement and collaboration with healthcare teams.
