Essential Functions Ability to adjust and operate robotic welders Ability to diagnose malfunctions on automated systems Inspects and measures work pieces to verify conformance to specification Moves machine controls and guides to adjust machine to insure proper blueprint specifications Possess the necessary knowledge to operate and diagnose certain types of production tooling, plasma and oxy/acetylene burning equipment, material handling devices (cranes, pallet movers, forklifts, motorized carts, straddle trailer, etc.) Welds production, prototype, and new product designs Assists in training lesser trained welders Makes program changes to robotic welders, with proper training, and understands the nuances of an automated welding system Recognizes poor quality welds and takes corrective action Makes accurate accounting of labor, move tags, number of parts produced, and provides all necessary quality checks Must effectively communicate with co-workers and management in a team environment Performs housekeeping duties on equipment and the work site Perform job duties of a Pole Setup, Welder B, and Robotic Operator Complete set-up of equipment to the proper settings insuring that parts produced meet required specifications Safely load and unload work cells Accurately use and read a tape measure in addition to other tools required to prepare and weld poles Ability to locate and enter information using a computer Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities) Minimum one (1) year of welding and part fit-up experience. The ability to successfully demonstrate hands-on gas metal arc welding during an on-site capability test The ability to read, write, and understand both verbal and written English Demonstrated understanding of AWS symbols The ability to read a tape measure and blueprints The ability to work over ten hours a week in overtime when required for business needs Robotics computer knowledge in both software and hardware applications Attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy while working in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines · Passion and integrity with the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results Minimum one (1) year of welding and part fit-up experience The ability to successfully demonstrate hands-on gas metal arc welding during an on‑site capability test The ability to read, write, and understand both verbal and written English Demonstrated understanding of AWS symbols The ability to read a tape measure and blueprints The ability to work over ten hours a week in overtime when required for business needs Robotics computer knowledge in both software and hardware applications Attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy while working in a fast‑paced environment with multiple deadlines Passion and integrity with the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications Over two (2) years of non-professional robotics experience Experience programming/interfacing a robotic welder ARC welding programming experience Educational Background Robotics Computer knowledge in both software and hardware applications Welding work experience Reads AWS symbol charts Ability to read, write, and understand English in order to complete necessary paperwork requirements and understand documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions Must be able to understand and follow verbal/written instructions Must be capable of correct interpretation and utilization of engineering drawings, both in imperial and metric measure Ability to do simple math (add, subtract, divide and multiply both whole numbers and fractions) Possess legible penmanship Use a handheld calculator Job Training Skill Development This job requires the employee to understand blueprint /design readings and use such skill to determine part dimensions and tolerances, which may be indicated in both imperial and metric measurements. The employee will be required to operate automated welding equipment and makes necessary adjustments to insure proper blueprint specifications. The employee must be capable of welding various configurations and gauges of material plus maintaining proper fit-ups of all required components. The job requires the employee to operate grinding, welding, burning, and burning equipment. At this level, the employee is able to identify and inspect parts and materials to ensure quality of product. The job also requires routine and troubleshooting maintenance activities to be performed. This job requires the employee to complete inventory forms and inspection record processing. This job also involves material handling with the ability to operate a forklift, and overhead crane. The job requires the employee to maintain the shop, equipment, and work areas in a clean and safe condition. The job requires the employee to perform in-process quality checks. A person should be able to do 75% of the job within 90 days. The normal adaptation time, for any new employee, should not exceed 120 days. Decision Making Employee makes routine decisions and also makes decisions that may affect the quality of the products being manufactured. These are decisions that affect the employee’s own work quality and output, as well as the helper’s work. This job requires that employee to inspect each tube to be welded, to ensure that the Moto process will be able to weld without any major issues. Issues can include twist, surface quality, and poor cuts from the saw. Ability to make mathematical calculations in preparing to run equipment or programming equipment. Ability to set up machines to the proper requirements so that usable parts are produced. Recognizes poor quality welds and takes corrective action. Shall be capable of diagnosing problems with both machine and material used and proceeds with the proper course of action. Although most of this job is covered by standard practices, good common sense and quality control procedures are essential aspects of completing this job in a successful manner. An automated robotic welding operator needs to be able to decide when to keep the machine running or to stop it to fix the problem. Ability to perform preventative maintenance on equipment and knowing when is the opportune time to schedule based on the production schedule. EFFORT Physical Effort While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee is required to walk, talk and listen. The incumbent needs to be able to handle and grasp item with one hand. There are times when an awkward position needs to be maintained in order to complete certain types of welds on larger items. This inside shop environment works at a very quick pace and the welder needs to have the physical strength and stamina to keep up with this the speed of the rest of the welding team and the automated machinery. The welder needs to be able to sustain the weight and fatigue of the Personal Protective Equipment (P.P.E.) during the entire shift as well as endure the excessive heat during the warm summer months and the high temperature given off from the burning equipment used. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
