PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION: Adjunct / Substitute Instructor POOL (college credit) San Diego Community College District Position Type: Adjunct Location: District Wide Position: Open until filled. Applicants will be placed on the Adjunct College Salary Schedule upon receipt of official transcripts and verification of previous work experience. Salary will be placed at the first class/step until all documentation is provided. Applicants are added to a pool and may be assigned to one of the district’s three campuses (City, Mesa, Miramar) or continuiying education centers on a continuous basis. Positions are as-needed; applicants should live within commuting distance to San Diego. Assignments may include day, evening, weekend, and/or off-campus classes. Major Responsibilities Primary duties are related to curriculum and teaching; the assignment is divided between lecture and lab classes as determined by the department. Be available to students outside of class. Provide instruction in accordance with established curriculum and course outlines. Maintain professional conduct and ethics. Maintain up-to-date knowledge in subject matter areas. Fulfill professional responsibilities of a part-time faculty member. Teach all scheduled classes. Maintain accurate records. Provide quality instruction, creating and maintaining an environment that emphasizes teaching and learning and encourages free discussion of ideas, interests and issues. Minimum Qualifications Degrees must be from regionally accredited institutions. Political Science Minimum Qualifications Master’s in political science, government, or international relations AND at least two upper‑division or graduate courses in American Politics, Public Policy and/or Public Administration. Bachelor’s in any of the above and Master’s in economics, history, public administration, social science, sociology, ethnic studies, Juris Doctor or Legum Baccalaureus AND at least two upper‑division or graduate courses in American Politics, Public Policy and/or Public Administration. Equivalent qualifications. Management Minimum Qualifications Master’s in business administration, business management, business education, marketing, public administration, or finance AND at least two upper‑division or graduate courses in American Politics, Public Policy and/or Public Administration. Bachelor’s in any of the above AND Master’s in economics, accountancy, taxation or law AND at least two upper‑division or graduate courses in American Politics, Public Policy and/or Public Administration. Equivalent qualifications. Desired Qualifications California Community College Instructor Credential in Government (valid for life). Other credentials or licenses as indicated. Licenses / Certificates / Credentials California Community College Instructor Credential in Government (Theory and Practice, Local and International). Certificate of Tuberculosis Exam (renewed every 4 years). Live Scan fingerprints (clearance required prior to first day). Proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
