SUSTAINABILITY: Adjunct / Substitute Instructor POOL (college credit) San Diego Community College District Closing Date: Open Until Filled Position Number: (not specified) Location: District Wide Position Type: Adjunct Major Responsibilities Primary duties are related to curriculum and teaching; assignments are divided between lecture and lab classes as determined by department. Faculty members are required to be available to students outside of class. Provide instruction in accordance with established curriculum and course outlines. Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics. Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter areas. Fulfill professional responsibilities of a part‑time/temporary faculty member. Teach all scheduled classes. Maintain accurate records. Provide quality instruction, create and maintain an environment that emphasizes teaching and learning and encourages free discussion of ideas, interests and issues. Minimum Qualifications Degrees must be from accredited institutions. Master’s degree in Anthropology or Archaeology; or Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology or Archaeology plus a Master’s in Sociology, Biological Sciences, Forensic Sciences, Genetics, or Paleontology; or Possession of a California Community College Instructor Credential (valid for life) in Anthropology or Archaeology; or Master’s degree in any biological science; or Bachelor’s degree in any biological science plus a Master’s in Biochemistry, Biophysics, or Marine Science; or Possession of a California Community College Instructor Credential (valid for life) in Biological Sciences; or Master’s degree in Philosophy; or Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy plus a Master’s in Humanities or Religious Studies; or Possession of a California Community College Instructor Credential (valid for life) in Philosophy and Religion; or Master’s degree in Geography; or Bachelor’s degree in Geography plus a Master’s in Geology, History, Meteorology, or Oceanography; or Possession of a California Community College Instructor Credential (valid for life) in Geography; or Master’s degree in Sociology; or Bachelor’s degree in Sociology plus a Master’s in Anthropology, any ethnic studies, Social Work, or Psychology; or Possession of a California Community College Instructor Credential (valid for life) in Sociology; or The equivalent. Desired Qualifications Possession of a California Community College Instructor Credential (valid for life) in any of the following: Anthropology, Archaeology, any Biological Science, Philosophy, or Sociology. Licenses / Certificates / Credentials California Community College Instructor Credential (valid for life) in any of the following: Anthropology, Archaeology, any Biological Science, Philosophy, or Sociology. Conditions of Employment Submit official college transcripts as stated on application. Provide a Certificate of Tuberculosis Exam for initial appointment (must be renewed every 4 years). Have fingerprints taken by a Live Scan computer at district expense; clearance must be received prior to first day. Present original documents for proof of eligibility to work in the United States. All new SDCCD employees must provide a Certificate of Tuberculosis Exam for initial appointment and renew every 4 years. Salary Information Salary placement at the first class/step until documentation is submitted. Final placement depends on receipt of official transcripts and verification of prior work experience.
