Payroll Specialist Job Locations: US-MD-Germantown Overview Edgewater Federal Solutions is seeking a Payroll Specialist to support our federal client, onsite in Germantown, MD. The Payroll Specialist assists in resolving high-level payroll-related helpdesk tickets. This position provides payroll and human capital processing, as well as helpdesk support Responsibilities Assist in resolving high-level payroll and human capital tickets related to employee pay errors Actively engaging with reported issues to ensure they are handled promptly and accurately Conduct thorough research to understand the nature and cause of the pay error. Identify root cause and provide detailed guidance on the corrective actions required to resolve the pay discrepancies, ensuring that each issue is corrected efficiently, restoring accurate pay for affected employees. Support the payroll team in all training/tickets related to the new Time and Attendance migration. Assist in bi-weekly payroll processing and submission of Time and Attendance payroll files. Resolve, respond and assist employees with issues regarding ATAAPs Respond to payroll-related phone calls, faxes and emails Process bi-weekly payroll accounting entries Process weekly and bi-weekly STARS and DFAS payroll reconciliation reports Process corrections and adjustments for payroll expenses in STARS and Payroll Labor Distribution Systems (PLDS) for program offices Generate bi-weekly/monthly payroll accrual entries and correct funding failures Review student loan repayment packages and submit repayment information to DFAS, generate periodic reconciliation reports, and respond to participant inquiries Generate Microsoft Access database reports to respond to customer inquiries Verify Federal government employment and submit wage garnishment information to DFAS for processing Compile and review audit requests for leave and debt issues Process advance sick leave requests, interagency donated leave requests and CFC donations Process restored leave requests Process new hire employee packages and enter data information into the payroll system Scan and upload all payroll related forms to the on-line repository Respond to customer inquiries; both in writing and verbally Track, research and resolve edits Perform systems testing Resolve payroll helpdesk tickets as needed Qualifications Bachelor's degree and 5 years of experience In lieu of a degree, additional relevant experience may be applicable Training/experience in government payroll and accounting systems preferred. Expert skills in Excel required. Demonstrated excellent organizational, as well as verbal and written communication skills. Working knowledge of the following systems - ATAAPS, DCPS, DOE info, Remedy and/or WorkDay.
