The Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) is seeking a Contracts Administrator I to assist with procurement and contract administration activities in the Contracts Administration Department. This position provides an excellent opportunity for an early-career professional to develop expertise in public procurement and contract administration while supporting procurements from solicitation through contract award and closeout. The Contracts Administrator I will assist with ensuring compliance with procurement policies and applicable regulations and collaborate with project managers, legal counsel, finance staff, vendors, and other stakeholders on a variety of contracting and purchasing activities. The Contracts Administration Department procures various goods and services (professional services and analytical support for various vendors and consultants) to assist staff with implementing various regional planning initiatives. Procuring theses services at the least cost possible, with the highest quality, enables staff to support SCAG’s strategic goals to establish and implement a regional vision for a sustainable future, be a cohesive and influential voice for the region, spur innovation and action through leadership in research, analysis, and information sharing, build a unified culture anchored in the pursuit of organizational excellence, and secure and optimize diverse funding sources to support regional priorities. In this role you can expect to Assist with the development of solicitation documents, coordination of proposal evaluations, and procurement activities in accordance with SCAG procurement policies and procedures. Assist with procurement, contract award, and contract execution activities while working closely with project managers, vendors, and internal stakeholders throughout the procurement process. Support contract administration activities throughout the contract lifecycle, including maintaining contract files, tracking contract milestones, assisting with contract amendments, and supporting contract closeout activities. Review procurement requests and supporting documentation for accuracy and completeness and elevate issues or concerns as appropriate. Maintain organized procurement and contract records with a high level of attention to detail and accountability. Communicate effectively with project managers, legal counsel, finance staff, consultants, and vendors to support successful procurement and contract administration outcomes. Participate in special projects and departmental initiatives that support Contracts Administration workplan objectives and agency priorities. Perform other duties as assigned. What You'll Bring To This Role Any combination of training, education, and experience that would provide the required skills, knowledge, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be with a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field. We’ll be a great match if you also have: Familiarity with procurement, purchasing, contract administration, grants administration, project coordination, or other administrative support functions. Familiarity working with professional services, information technology, legal services, or other government contracts. Knowledge of procurement principles, contract administration practices, and compliance requirements throughout the contracting lifecycle. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate work and maintaining organized records. Ability to research information, identify solutions, and develop thoughtful recommendations to support business needs. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders. The ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing business needs. Familiarity reviewing contracts, amendments, or procurement related documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
