Manual Machinist - 2nd Shift

EthosEnergy is seeking a 2nd Shift Manual Machinist I to join our team in Houston, TX. In this hands‑on role, you will machine, assemble, and prepare steam and gas turbine components for engineering testing and evaluation. You will build steam and compressor units, perform precision machining operations, and support product development and testing activities with minimal supervision. This position offers the opportunity to work on critical rotating equipment while collaborating with engineering and manufacturing teams in a fast-paced environment. Successful candidates must have 15+ years of experience in machining and 10 + years of experience in machining rotors. Job Responsibilities Record data on prepared forms to document erecting results, clearances, etc. as required. Determine extent of damage and make reports on customer returned units. Remove burrs and sharp edges, mark, identify, preserve and protect parts as directed. Detect and correct errors such as improper fits, alignment, clearances and similar mechanical errors, or cause to have corrected. Consistently produce work of proper quality and of properly required quality. Setup and operate mill, lathe, and surface grinder with minimum supervision. Be able to perform complex rigging with minimum supervision. May be required to learn and perform basic blading fundamentals. May be required to fulfill temporary assignments outside of home department including customer work sites. Has a positive attitude toward safety; cleanliness, neatness, quality and quantity of work as well as respect for the comfort and safety of others. Travel to customer sites and other EthosEnergy facilities to support as needed. Adhere & Comply to EthosEnergy Safety, Quality and production standards daily. Required Skills / Knowledge Basic Equipment Cleaning Understand tooling and take dimensions with various tools Understand Part Terminologies and handle materials Operate a Scissor Lift, Crane and Forklift Deburr Parts Operate a Material Saw, Drill Press, Knee Mill and Mill Resharpening Tooling Indicate Parts in a VTL Rigg and Lift Nozzles and Diaphragms Operate a Mag Base Drill Understand Blueprints Operate Horizontal Lathe and plan efficient setups Operate VTL Rig and Lift Turbine Cases Lathe setups with 1 and 2 steady rests and lathe setups with center Rig and Lift Rotors Indicate Parts in a Large Mill Block Polish Operate a Tip Grinder Train Others Indicate Rotors in a Horizontal Lathe Design and Make Fixtures Part setups involving deep hole machining Machine critical features with max .0005" tolerance Skim and Burnish Probe Areas Operate Flange Facers Grind Rotor Journals Setup and Operate a Boring Bar Advanced critical thinking involving one off repairs Machinery Troubleshooting Experience 15+ years in machining 10 + years in machining rotors Education Requirements High school diploma or equivalent Physical Requirements Lift up to 35 lbs.
