Maintenance Worker IThis position performs a variety of semi-skilled manual tasks under direct supervision of a foreman, lead worker, or other higher-level classified employees. Duties may involve the use of hand and power tools and the operation of light truck and construction equipment as a part of the assignment. Duties may be performed under adverse weather or working conditions.Duties and Responsibilities:Performs yard and field maintenance such as cutting grass, edging, weeding, laying sod, spreading grass seed and fertilizing.Other duties include: spraying for insects, landscaping, sports field maintenance.Other duties as assigned.Qualification Requirements:Irrigation and tree trim/grounds cleanup experience is desired.An equivalent combination of education, experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered for minimum requirements except for licensure/certification requirements.Licenses and Special Requirements:Possession of a valid Florida driver's license and an acceptable driving record is required.Language Skills:Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.Ability to read and write.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the public.Ability to develop and maintain good personal relationship with other employees and the public.Reasoning Ability:Ability to follow and apply common sense understanding, to carry out instructions furnished in written and oral form.Other Skills and Abilities:Ability to work independently and in a diligent manner.Ability to use various hand and power tools related to the job.Good physical condition is essential.Work Environment/ADA:This job requires walking, standing, pushing, bending, stooping, equipment operation and driving. The employee may work in an office environment or outside in various weather conditions.
