MEDICAL TERMINOLOGY-CE/VOC: Adjunct / Substitute Instructor POOL (non-credit) Classification Title: MEDICAL TERMINOLOGY-CE/VOC: Adjunct / Substitute Instructor POOL (non-credit) Working Title: Adjunct Faculty Recruitment Limits: Not specified. Location: District Wide. Pay Information: Salary placement is contingent upon receipt of official transcripts and verifications of previous work experience. Instructors with advanced coursework or experience will receive appropriate placement on the Adjunct College Salary Schedules after documentation is received. FLSA Status: Exempt (does not accrue overtime). Position Type: Adjunct. Bargaining Unit: AFT/Continuing Education Faculty. Range: Not applicable. Department: District Wide. NOTE: The San Diego Community College District accepts applications for adjunct positions for three campuses and various continuing education centers on a continuous basis. Applicants will be included in the adjunct pool for possible assignments in future semesters. Part‑time/temporary faculty positions offer flexible hours and the opportunity to assist a diverse group of adult students. These positions are as‑needed; applicants should live within commuting distance to San Diego. Assignments may include a combination of day, evening, weekend, and/or off‑campus classes. Major Responsibilities Serve as adjunct faculty in lecture and lab classes as determined by the department. Provide instruction in accordance with the established curriculum and course outlines. Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics. Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter areas. Fulfill professional responsibilities of a part‑time/temporary faculty member. Teach all scheduled classes. Maintain accurate records. Provide quality instruction and create an environment that encourages free discussion of ideas, interests, and issues. Qualifications A Bachelor’s degree AND two (2) years of occupational experience related to the subject of the course taught. An Associate degree AND six (6) years of occupational experience related to the subject of the course taught. Possession of a full‑time, clear California Designated Subjects Adult Education Teaching Credential authorizing instruction in Health Occupations. The equivalent of any of the above qualifications. Desired Qualifications Applicants may submit a Request for Equivalency Form if they do not possess the exact degrees listed above but anticipate obtaining them prior to teaching.
