Computer Information Systems: Contract Instructor-College Credit Position: Assistant Professor of Computer Information Systems to teach Information, Networking and Web Technology (INWT) courses at San Diego City College. This recruitment will fill two positions, starting January 2027 (spring 2027 semester). The Assistant Professor reports to the Dean of the School of Business, IT & Cosmetology. Major Responsibilities Teach college-level lecture and laboratory courses on information technology and cybersecurity topics. Develop, evaluate, and revise curriculum to meet university transfer requirements and emerging industry trends. Advise students on education and career development. Collaborate with faculty and industry partners to support student learning and workforce readiness. Maintain professional knowledge and instructional practices in IT and cybersecurity. Participate in departmental functions, program review, assessment, committee service, and student learning outcome development. Provide culturally responsive teaching and engage diverse student populations. Attend faculty meetings, professional development, and community engagement activities. Minimum Qualifications Any bachelor’s degree and at least two years of professional experience directly related to the teaching assignment; OR an associate degree and at least six years of professional experience; OR equivalent. Desired Qualifications Knowledge of DEI and inclusive classroom strategies. Experience teaching at the college level in computer systems, networks, or cybersecurity. Industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA, ISC2, GIAC). Curriculum development and assessment experience. Experience with online, hybrid, or asynchronous instruction. Proficiency in incorporating emerging technologies such as AI. Experience supporting English‑language learners and students with prior learning. Professional communication and interpersonal skills. Equivalency Submit Request for Equivalency form if degrees do not exactly match requirements. Foreign degree holders must have coursework evaluated by a NACES or ACEI member organization. Benefits and Conditions Salary: Step C Class 1 – Class 6 ($6,933.44–$8,849.03) per month. FLSA exempt (no overtime). Contract tenure of one year, renewable annually for up to one additional year. Travel reimbursement for interviewees traveling more than 200 miles one‑way.
