Special Education Teacher in La Place, LA

Step into a dynamic school environment as a dedicated Special Education Teacher, supporting young learners and making a meaningful difference each day. Two contract opportunities are available starting ASAP through May 25, 2027, working 7.5 hours per day with a 30-minute unpaid lunch, totaling 35 hours a week. The school’s schedule runs approximately 7:40am to 3:00pm.

Position 1 involves working with a small caseload of 5-6 students in Kindergarten through 1st grade in a self-contained classroom focused on students with significant needs. Position 2 offers a unique Montessori campus experience, working with K-6th grade students in a self-contained setting. For both positions, candidates with background or familiarity in ABA methodologies and significant behavioral support will thrive.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Valid Special Education teaching certification
  • Previous experience in self-contained or high-needs classrooms (K-6th preferred)
  • Passionate about individualized education for students with diverse needs
  • Experience implementing ABA strategies is highly valued
  • Familiarity with Montessori methods (Position 2) is a plus
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for each student
  • Create a supportive, structured learning environment tailored to significant needs
  • Utilize evidence-based instructional and behavioral interventions
  • Monitor and document student progress
  • Collaborate with related service providers, families, and administrative teams
  • Foster independence, life skills, and academic growth
