Staff Accountant

Accountant | Michaels Stores The Tone:This is a full-time role at Michaels Stores, located in Irving, TX. Michaels Stores is a leading North American destination for creativity and celebration, operating over 1,300 stores and an online presence, with a purpose to fuel the joy of creativity. This role is crucial for maintaining complete and accurate financial records, ensuring adherence to financial controls, and supporting the company’s Sarbanes-Oxley certification. The TL;DR Role: Early Career Type: Full-time Location: In-person, Irving, TX Mission: This person computes, classifies, and records numerical data to ensure complete and accurate financial records and adherence to controls, policies, and procedures for financial statements and SOX certification. Tech Stack: Excel, U.S. GAAP, SOX, Oracle Financials (desired), other large ERP (desired) What You’ll Actually Do Reconcile: Reconcile and analyze various general ledger account balances and recommend appropriate management action. Prepare: Prepare and enter various general ledger journal entries for month-end closing. Record: Record bi-weekly payroll into the general ledger and process monthly accruals when necessary. Analyze: Provide analysis for various payroll-related variances and research questions related to monthly financial reports. Resolve: Interrelate with other departments to resolve issues as they occur. The Must-Haves Background: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Accounting; Entry-Level career with 0 to 5 years of experience. Experience: 0 to 5 years of accounting experience; exposure to U.S. GAAP and SOX. Skills: Proficient in Excel. Bonus: CPA or CMA preferred; experience with Oracle Financials or other large ERP desired. #J-18808-Ljbffr
