Essential duties and responsibilities of this position are described below and are subject to change by management, as may be necessitated by changes in business needs, contract requirements, accommodation requests, or other reasons.Position OverviewUnder the direction of the Staff Nurse, administers medications as prescribed; and documents the medication effectiveness and any noted adverse actions or side effects. Performs routine phlebotomy services and complete laboratory management functions in a correctional setting.Education/Credentials/ExperienceHigh school diploma or GED requiredMedical Aide certification with approval for medication administration requiredCertified Nursing Aide certification requiredMust maintain current tuberculosis documentation and active CPR certificationOne Year experience in acute care, emergency, or correctional setting preferredEssential Duties/ResponsibilitiesParticipate in patient treatment and management as directed by multidisciplinary teamAdministers and accurately records the administration of medications for patients as prescribed by the physician in accordance with established policies and procedures of the Company and applicable state/federal regulationsObserves, records, and reports to the Staff Nurse symptoms and conditions of patients that could be related to medication interactions, adverse reactions, or medication side effectsDetermines and records the effectiveness of medications in a timely and accurate manner as required by state and federal regulationsStores medications in a safe and accurate manner and monitors medications to ensure adequate accountabilityProvide direct patient care to include gathering vital signs such as temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respiration rates, food and fluid intake, and outputPerform and assist patients with feeding, basic hygiene care, and other activities of daily livingPerform phlebotomy on patient populationConduct social and recreational activities for individual patients or small group under direction of nursing staffConduct observation of patients as directed after required training and approvalParticipate in the monitoring, requisition, and documentation of the use of medical supplies and equipment as directedIdentify and maintain professional boundaries to preserve the integrity of the therapeutic process and relationshipEnsure compliance with all facility and Company policies, Federal and State laws, regulations, and guidelines including HIPAACoordinate care closely with custody staff while maintaining a positive, collaborative relationshipMaintain ethical commitment to ensure confidentiality within the limits of a correctional environmentDemonstrates awareness of proper infection control practices by using Universal Precautions and following policies and procedures of Centurion, including OSHA Blood-borne Pathogen Standard and Centurion's Exposure Control PlanDeliver care to patients in a nonjudgmental/nondiscriminatory manner to protect their autonomy, dignity, and rightsOther duties as assignedPosition Core CompetenciesProblem Solver: Acts collaboratively in resolving problems.
